Bett Harris you make me blush. When I wrote the emotional except I wasn’t really doing more than remembering that experience and putting it into words. I wasn’t trying to evoke anything in someone else. I simply wanted to show how dark was the place God led me out of.
I build my memorial stones with words. The children of Israel built theirs of stone. But they are created for the same reason — to remember the faithfulness of the Lord. They say “This is where the Lord acted on my behalf. Never forget that.” The stone monuments told later generations how God had demonstrated his faithfulness.
David’s Psalms also act as memorials and testimonies to God’s faithfulness. Time after time when he’s in a rough place he looks back and remembers God’s past faithfulness as he faces a new crisis.
