I agree. I found Duolingo boring, but I enjoyed reviewing my college German using Drops, a different app. As long as I kept the same routine, doing my ten minutes in bed every morning before I got up, I had a steady 33-day streak. If I varied the time and place I’d break the streak. Part of the reason was that if I waited until after midnight for my session it recorded as the next day, so it looked as if I broke the streak even if I really didn’t skip a day. I’ve been at this since the beginning of December, about 70 days, and so far I’m still being consistently daily. My goal is to be able to read German poetry in the original again. Instead of a friend, I follow German speakers on Instagram for extra practice and expanded vocabulary.
