I don’t always read the same way. I often read for sheer entertainment — like some people watch television. When I want to relax, I read a novel. I also read nonfiction for information on subjects I’m curious about. There are also times when I read literary fiction and pay more attention than usual to the author’s theme, style, etc., the way I would have in college, because I want to learn from the author how to write.
I read because I love reading when I can choose what I read. I hate reading some things — tax form instructions, insurance policies, education textbooks, legal documents, and most philosophy books.
