I really doubt if Californians will stop growing grapes and almonds. Grapes have mostly replaced almond trees here in Paso Robles. We now have more oak trees, which produce only beauty and acorns, than almond trees, and oak trees, which can use up to 50 gallons of water on a hot day are protected.
I will be very surprised if many Americans will trade almonds for crickets, largely because of the “ick” factor. Many immigrants from insect-eating cultures will be more open to it. I’d rather give up beef than almonds.
