When I need fresh ideas I normally go to a local art gallery /artist studio combination downtown and I take my camera. Once a month there is an an Art after Dark event and it usually includes not only art exhibits but also live music.
During Art after Dark local galleries stay open later than usual. I normally try to arrive about an hour early and take some pictures that I can later use with my writing. Once the crowd starts arriving it’s harder to get clear shots. The local art association has an artist reception an hour before the main event starts.
The live music usually energizes me, the art inspires me, and the conversations with the artists give me writing ideas. Ten years of regular visits to this art hub have enriched my life and allowed me to form relationships with people who are creative in a different discipline than I am. The artists usually appreciate the publicity I give them, so we all benefit.
