When we've lived long enough to unlearn some of what we've been taught, we can learn to think for ourselves. That especially goes for the labels we place on people and things. For decades now I see plants as individuals playing their role in nature. I gave up the distinction between "flowers" and "weeds" long ago.

They are all God's gifts to us and each has its own kind of beauty. We still may decide to pluck out those that work against us to rob us other plants of their places in our lives. Just as all people don't make good neighbors, all plants don't belong in our gardens. We can't choose our neighbors, but we can choose which plants earn space in our gardens and how much space each gets.
